United you and I
We are the same
While divided some may fight
But in these days of uncertainty
We will hold on to what we know
For ourselves
United you and I
Will soon no longer be
For that was a day
We chose to leave
But will soon regret
And united you and I
I wish we could stay
But if united we may stand now
I will fall by myself
Not taking anyone down besides me
Holding myself to my faults
And leaving you with only the triumphs
Of a past day
United we are

Letter to Tony Bourdain
Dear Anthony Bourdain
somewhere between the time you died and the time you lived
i found a part of myself in the words you spoke

What is left
[This is a reposted edited version of a previous poem of mine.]
when all we have is spent–
what will we have left?
people once before us– -
down the street
i walked down the street
the streets i once used to know
filled with regrets and heavy with burdens
of what once happened here
i walked down the street
a block or so down
