The storm came too quickly, as if it was running a race that nobody else knew they were in.
A race to get inside before the snow got even angrier.
At first the storm was as gentle as a kitten, charming in the little town; that was before it grew claws.
The wind came after, whipping the snow around.
People on the streets didn’t know what had happened.
A lovely winter walk turned into a nightmare.
One little girl watched, safe inside her home.
She knew the snow and how it danced.
The way the wind loved to play with people's hair, and how the cold just wanted to be hugged.
The fire flickered, sparks flying free.
She sipped her hot cocoa, and watched.
The streets were now deserted and a lone car drove down towards the lake.
She almost felt the need to go outside and let the storm know that she wasn’t scared, she never would be,
she understood.
