The Way You Left It

I tip toe inside carefully

the room feels empty and cold without you here

abandoned

your faded teddy bear sleeps on your bed

your pink sheets already seem duller

there's still piles of smelly clothes on the floor

it's the same way you left it

I haven't been brave enough to touch a thing

the whole house feels lonely

without you

at least you're happy

I can deal with it

as long as you come back to visit

  • Smile

    it stretches my face apart

    not unlike the plates,

we learn about in science class.

    pulling at my jaw,

    cheeks,

    lips,

    until finally

    my whole demeanor

    has been compromised,

  • Moving on

"We ignite not in the light, but in lack thereof,

For it is in loss that we truly learn to love."*

    When we can feel,

All that is no longer there,

  • Halls

    the doors

    are left open

    for him

    to walk through

    and brightly lit

    with all

    he will ever need

    when beside him

    there is a girl

    stumbling through

    a dark hall

    unable to find her way
