We Are Your Legacy

Dear leaders,

You say you love us

The children of your country

But you do what is best

For you

Even though

We are the future

Of our country

We are your legacy

How can you expect us

To mop up

Your mess

How can you expect us

To save our broken country

Because a band-aid

Won't cut it

You say

The people of America

Come first above all

No matter what party

It only works for

People

Who are at least 30

We are next

We are the heirs

To this broken country

And you don't seem to care

That by the time

We are 40

The planet

Will be practically melting

The sea level

Higher

Or we could be gone

Kids could be gone

Because of shootings

Because you seem to care

More about tariffs

And being powerful

Than making gun laws

And saving kids

Leaders,

So obsessed

With your legacy

And yet

We are your legacy

We are your heirs

And we will

Have to clean up this mess

Even though

You seem to make it impossible

As if you don't want us

To be your legacy

But we are

We are next

We

Are

Your

Legacy

Protect us

We're just kids

But one day

We won't be

One day

We will be responsible

From,

Part of your

Legacy
