We're Growing Up

We hit the pinata

With so much joy

And so much laughter

Like we’re little again.

We pile onto the hammock

Like we’ve always done

And spill secrets

Like we always have.

We play badminton

Until we can’t see

Because we can stay up

Later now.

We dance to songs we know

Like we would have

Except we video them on the phones

We now have.

We stay up so late

Like we now do

And always dreamed of,

Somehow it isn’t as fun.

We eat four breakfasts in one

Like we always would

But talk about being vegan

Like we do now.

We sit on the porch

And play games in the yard

And somehow

It feels like we’re growing up.
