What do we want?

If I had everything I wanted
Would I have it all?

But what do you want in life?
Not me
Not him
Not her

What do you want?

Where do you want to live
Do you want to explore and adventure?
Or would you like to settle down early and stay in one place?

Would you follow the wind that blows on a dusty street
Following the tumble weeds as if they mark a path
Each blowing in the wind
Going to the same place
Because that is where they all go

Do you want to grow old near family and friends
Or live alone but it's peaceful and quiet

If I had the choice I would travel
I would travel so much I wouldn't know
Where I could call home
Waking up each day in a new place
New people new life

And I want to grow up and grow old
But I want to be able to look back
And be happy about the moment
I'm living in

And deep down I truly want everything
I could never have
And I can never have
Because within the strength
Passion
And perseverance
Of mankind
In the end that is all we truly want

  • What is left

[This is a reposted edited version of a previous poem of mine.]

when all we have is spent–

    what will we have left?

    people once before us–

  • down the street

    i walked down the street
the streets i once used to know
filled with regrets and heavy with burdens
    of what once happened here

    i walked down the street
    a block or so down

  • Dear god, am I real?

I believe in god even though I may know he doesn’t exist

I know the mountains were not formed by him

Instead it is the science in the world

The reason we are here in this moment
