What's in the night sky?

New York City is the most densely populated city in the United States. New York City is also one of the most famous cities in the world. If you walk down the street anywhere in the city it will be alive, the city doesn’t sleep. If you come from this city no matter where you go or where you end up a part of it stays with you.

When you step foot in the city, you’re greeted by people of all different walks of life. Some more familiar and some more distant. When you walk down the street you think about who was there before you, a city with over 400 years of history. Each step you take someone else has taken before you and someone will take it after you.

Each person that walks down the street holds a different story inside of them, That means in New York City there are 8.258 billion different stories floating around at a single time. Each one with a different sense of self, of joy, of life, of passion. Each one an individual yearning to be something bigger than themselves, trying to keep up with the movement of a city so full of life but still trying to keep a part of themselves the same. A city so large and busy is always changing but do the people change at the same rate as their home?

When you stare into the night sky you can only see 2,000 stars at a time. In the entire universe there are around 200 billion trillion stars. Each star is different, each one is an individual different from the next one you may search for on a summer night as you watch the night sky mesmerized by the lights and shapes.

Sometimes I wish I got the chance to stand on the bridge overlooking the city at night, as the wind blows on a perfect fall day. The sky a perfect shade of blue morphing into orange and red. Other times I wish I could sit in my backyard during a time so frightful yet so peaceful while I watch the stars and count the individual ones as a cool wind blows. But with all of these scenarios there’s a touch of nostalgia that you’ll never be able to get back, the world is always moving and changing as we change with it. People change, but some people never do. Maybe in the end if nothing had changed I would’ve. As humans we can never be infinite, there will always be the past that we search for in the present and hope for in the future. We can never achieve the same feeling we had more than once, and we’ll chase that feeling as we try to get back that part of ourselves. Hoping we can be something bigger than ourselves.
