Who's To Blame?

I have seen someone blame others for their own problems. You have too. We all have known someone at some point in our lives, maybe even ourselves. Especially ourselves. But that's a topic for another day.

I have seen someone blame everyone for their misfortunes, even though they were all self-caused. They want to blame their son, his wife, everyone but themselves. They set the stones in motion long before the first one fell; she just so happened to be the one to trigger it.

Whether it be neglect or victim blaming or a flabby excuse about forgetting it, we don't forget it. We never will. When family betrays your trust, they don't earn it back.

I sit in my closet, my phone in my hands, dialing 911. Downstairs, I hear glasses breaking, tables and chairs being thrown and smashed against the wall, the man who broke into our home screaming.

    That's not me.

It looks like me, talks like me, thinks like me, but that's not me.

It may say things only I could know, but trust me, it's not real.
