Why are you so angry?

Every time I see another woman
Another angry woman stand up and scream
Another angry woman politely lobby and debate and go through the proper channels
Another angry woman fall back as the proper channels dam off
Because they don't care about any women
Much less angry women
I know why I'm still angry
And every time I see another girl
Another frightened girl pull her skirt hem down and switch to loose slacks
Another frightened girl run to adults for shelter from the storm
Another frightened girl be denied an umbrella because she should appreciate the rain
Because the men are dry and the women need the men to shelter them
I know why I stay frightened
And every time I see another child 
Another innocent child like I once was start drawing her face in a tight line
Another innocent child like I once was understanding all at once what they were saying all along
Another innocent child like I once was watching every word that comes out of her mouth
Because innocence is so easy to yank away
I know why I'm still fighting
