tropical

sun shines on the vibrant green leaves
casting shadows
in the humidity
throwing yourself into the waves
and letting the water suport your weight
the sound of seagulls in the distance
and the taste of coconut on parched tongues
in each seashel another memorie is created
to be looked back on with a wistful smile
with every sweet crashing of the tides
on the sands of serenity
a grin is spread from ear to ear
the smell of sunscreen
and half melted popcicles in the sun
laughter that fills the scent heavy air
baked in light and colorful feathers
as small children run around
alighting on the sheer delight that they have found
and basking in the sun
every surfboard, towel, and umbrella
among the busy beauty of the tropical world.

  • The Boxes In The Corner

    Looming over your shoulders

Each stack higher than its former

    Every thought and every scrap

Of an idea too scared to ponder

    Every moment that hurt

    Each minute that lingered longer

  • Inadequacy

How do I push the words out
    From behind my taffy tongue
    Thick with salty tears
    And full of grubby thumb

    I’m a child
    Pretending that I’m numb
    To escape the overwhelming feelings

  • Paper Frogs

    Why

When feet fall soft but quick

    Does the hallway extend

And the hot breath of whoever’s behind me feel hotter

Why do I stay pressed to the wall

    Like a stubborn gruby sticker
