Friendship.

friendship is like a fairy

darting to and fro

just out of reach

taunting us with it's closeness

friendship is like your mother's china bowl

it's delicate

and so easily shattered

by one wrong word or a twist of fate

friendship is like a stick thrown too far

and your the dog

who, no matter how hard they search, cannot find it

friendship is like a cup of tea

it's warm and comforting

but if you leave it for too long

it becomes cold

and longs for a trip through the microwave of

"talk to each other, and see what happened."

but like most things you place in the microwave

it comes out a bit different

sometimes so different

your left wondering

do I want to be friends?

or do I want something else?

    Looming over your shoulders

Each stack higher than its former

    Every thought and every scrap

Of an idea too scared to ponder

    Every moment that hurt

    Each minute that lingered longer

  • Inadequacy

How do I push the words out
    From behind my taffy tongue
    Thick with salty tears
    And full of grubby thumb

    I’m a child
    Pretending that I’m numb
    To escape the overwhelming feelings

    Why

When feet fall soft but quick

    Does the hallway extend

And the hot breath of whoever’s behind me feel hotter

Why do I stay pressed to the wall

    Like a stubborn gruby sticker
