My Fire

there's a fire in my heart
one you'll never beat
one that keeps on coming back
that will not except defeat

there's a fire in my soul
one you can't put out
it sings it's soulful song
and shouts it's soulful shout.

there's a fire in my mind
that sometimes leaves me seeing red
sometimes I try to rid myself of it
but it's still inside my head.

there's a fire in my eyes
that's strong and burning bright
if you try to put it out
you'll end up in a fight

there's a fire in my lungs
begging me to breathe
to keep on pumping oxygen
even as I fall asleep

there's a fire in my love
it's always hungering for more
and when I try to put it out
it starts an huge uproar
every limb nail hair and pore
burning from the embers
I just can not ignore.

my fire is endless and pure
and if you touch it
it's sure to burn
 so please be careful
please take heed
of all the warnings signs and pleads

beware the fire inside of me.

    Looming over your shoulders

Each stack higher than its former

    Every thought and every scrap

Of an idea too scared to ponder

    Every moment that hurt

    Each minute that lingered longer

  • Inadequacy

How do I push the words out
    From behind my taffy tongue
    Thick with salty tears
    And full of grubby thumb

    I’m a child
    Pretending that I’m numb
    To escape the overwhelming feelings

    Why

When feet fall soft but quick

    Does the hallway extend

And the hot breath of whoever’s behind me feel hotter

Why do I stay pressed to the wall

    Like a stubborn gruby sticker
