the pixie's song

when the wind starts blowing

the wolves are calling

and the moon is full and bright

you can hear them whisper

hear them sing

you can hear them dance

and talk of wild things

when the trees are green

and the streams are large

and the animals are still newborns

you can hear them play their wooden flutes

you can hear them laugh

and sing some more

when the world is quiet

and the air is still

you can hear them whisper

til it's ten past two

you hear them

i know you do

when the leaves start falling

and the frost starts creeping

and the world seems to be barely breathing

you can hear the pixies

playing their pixie song

you can hear them

all night long

you can hear the pixie's song.

  • The Boxes In The Corner

    Looming over your shoulders

Each stack higher than its former

    Every thought and every scrap

Of an idea too scared to ponder

    Every moment that hurt

    Each minute that lingered longer

  • Inadequacy

How do I push the words out
    From behind my taffy tongue
    Thick with salty tears
    And full of grubby thumb

    I’m a child
    Pretending that I’m numb
    To escape the overwhelming feelings

  • Paper Frogs

    Why

When feet fall soft but quick

    Does the hallway extend

And the hot breath of whoever’s behind me feel hotter

Why do I stay pressed to the wall

    Like a stubborn gruby sticker
