you will not fade

hey
maybe I never knew you,
maybe you never knew me.

but I remember
you are not forgotten
I will not let you fade from memory,
won’t let your life wash away in the rain.

I will not let your grave be left to erode,
will not let your name stay silent as stone.

I will walk through your resting place,
let your name fall from my lips,
light a red candle for my love,
and a white for your spirit.

I will wash the dirt from your stone,
clean away the cobwebs and hornet nests,

You are not forgotten.

Maybe your children have let you slip from mind,
But I have not.

I remember.

    Greek Tragedies

    oh Icarus, you poor thing.
fell in love with the sun, the sky-
    paid the price, i suppose.

why do we always pay the price for love?

    Orpheus, lonesome poet,
lost his love because he wanted to tell her they'd made it.

    Where I Keep My Heart

I hold it there, safe amidst pillows, blankets and childhood stuffed animals.
When I make things, I break off a piece of my heart,
    and sew it into pillows,
