In that moment, I realized that my life would never be the same. I was only four, but I was so excited to meet my baby sister that I can remember it all. When I first met her, I wasn’t yet an expert babysitter. I knew that I would grow up to be the best big sister I could be for this little girl. She felt so small, I was still small too, but she was very little. Mom made me put a pillow under my arm, so I wouldn’t drop her. She said she was too heavy, but I didn’t understand how such a small thing could be “heavy.” I may not remember much about what she looked like, or what I felt when I first held her, but I remember thinking, “I’m not the only one anymore.” I may have been a little bit jealous at first, but I quickly learned to love her.
