Before
we wake,
we are huddled under
blankets
and dreaming.
Before
we wake
there are others
living,
breathing,
chirping,
growing.
Before
we wake
the ocean's waves
soak its rocky beaches.
Before
we wake
birds talk
about what today
will bring.
Before
we wake
the trees search
for heat
and light
amidst night.
And...
Before
we wake,
the world
goes on.

There are days when I fall asleep wondering about the line between stupid and brave.
Brave
Is a hero rushing into battle
Ready to fight
For their passion
Stupid
Is a hero rushing into battle
The trees talk,
you know?
They talk and if you listened
you would know,
they whisper
like kindergarteners
who can't stand straight in lines
but they can jump straight
