dirty laybor

I look down at my
grimy
sweat stained
hands
wondering
if I will ever escape this
coal mine
this mine of
torture
of infinite pain
other children are
surrounding me
plastered with dirt
as well as me
some are about 10
my age
others are only
five
or six.
a few sobs and empty shouts echo down
the tunnel
but all it leads to
is more darkness
and more labor
and more coal
and never turning back
never letting go
never stoping
never
ever
ever having fun
never playing
never making friends
never going to school

never forgetting
