Heart of Glass

If I hand you my heart

My heart made of glass

Don't shatter it

Don't have the shards

Splay across the ground

Don't hand it to someone else

To crush it

Beneath their fingers

But if it does

Shatter

Don't try to pick it up

Or my broken heart

Will scratch you with its

Sharp shards

It will

Melt back together

I've had practice

But you can't help

Once it shatters

And falls from your

Grasp

Once you let go

Let it drop

Let it crumble

My heart goes back

To its cage

Safe under lock and key

So

If I hand you

My heart of glass

My heart so clear

You can see everything

I feel

Don't make me

Pick up the shards

Again

Don't break my heart

Of glass

  • Do It For Her

If you can't do it for yourself

    Then do it for her

    Do it for the girl

    With big ideas

    And even bigger dreams

The girl who would try to count the stars

But then sigh and say there was a lot

I'm not sure how I feel about this poem, I don't think it's really good but I really wanted to participate in this challenge. :)
