Bari Incredible

You stand up

To take a solo.

Before, I've always smiled

At it.

Seeing you solo

Is incredible -

Just watching you -

I may not know you,

But I know you

By how you play.

You "noodle around"

You swing the eighth notes

You add notes and beats and bluesy jazz

And the rest of us only wish we could improv like that

And it just...makes my day.

I do not know you

But I know the way you play.

I know how you stand up and take all the liberties you like,

Onstage,

And how we all love it -

Backgrounds are fine by me

Because of the joy you bring to the room.

It's

Infectious.

Thank you

For letting us witness

This younger version of yourself -

Before you

Get famous

Like we all know you will be one day.

It's

Truly

Incredible.

    it does.

It's easy to just play through but not if you think too much.

    I grew up in 6/8

    my life plays itself

    yes I make mistakes

  • Falling in love

The first thing I ever understood about falling in love

is that it keeps you coming back

    like magnets

whether it's good for you or bad for you

    you're addicted.

And I didn't know the scope of it -

  • New Year

    New year's resolutions.

I tell myself a lot of things every year -

    I never listen.

    No boys, no distractions.

    Too late.

This time is different I think -

    I want that senior solo
