Lungs of our Earth

All day
Every day
Your lungs open wide to the world
as you absorb carbon dioxide
creating a balance on earth
Or so there should be
If only we didnt ruin it for you
Cutting down forests
polluting our atomosphere
and burning more and more fossil fuels

Your efforts get burried under our mistakes
but they aren't really mistakes anymore
when we know that they are problems
More than problems
A catastrophe.
And I know if you could speak
you would shout and cry for this planet
So I will try to scream
as loud as a young girl can
until the world sees earth for it's beauty
Until the world sees how hard you try each day
Until the world understands how tired you must be
of watching us repeat our countless mistakes
The destruction we've cause is unbearable to watch
and we need to do better
A ginormous amount better
Like a redwood tree amount better
because your efforts are too important to erase.

  • Project Your Voice

Another teardrop falls to my pillow
    Another night awake worrying
    Wide-eyed and distressed
I lie there unable to form thoughts
Since all I feel is anger buzzing through my body
  • Dreaming

The sun is ready to rest,
and fill the night with a deep navy.
    Light speckles the sky,
    shimmering in a far distance.
    Streetlights diminish,
and the world goes into focus.
I can go outside and gaze above me,
  • Endless journey

    Step after step,
I carry myself forward through a hike with no view.
No moment of relief of gazing out into the depths of the evergreens,
while listening to the chirping birds
and taking in the smell of the crisp air.
