I pick at my face

on a daily basis.

Rub my fingers over

my acne scars and oily skin,

every unwanted mark

that supposedly makes 

me beautiful.

I try to convince myself

Night loved Day so much, 

she folded back her dark, starlit cloak 

to make more room for Day’s light to bloom 

and spill gold over the World. 

It rained today, but I can’t stop thinking about the future. 

In a world of war and lies and deceit and wrong,

All I seem to focus on is the little things.

I feel like I’m losing

Who I am;

I feel like she’s slipping away from me, one

Comment at a time, one

Heartless joke, one

Unmeant,
