Banished
A tear slid down her cheek
Slumped alone in the tower
Had all the bread gone stale
Had all the days grown sour
Wet eyes tracked a bird
Gliding past the island's shore
Another tear rolled down her cheek -
Petrarchan Sonnet
I tried sewing corn in the snow
I plowed and planted the field
But no crop would it yield
And I wondered where the seeds would go
Since that sat lonely upon the snow
From the birds, no dirt could shield -
Oh No
The brush bites at your shins. Twigs slap your face. You look down. Your shoelaces are dancing under your soles. -
Lies never go away
A lie is like a dam
or possibly a candle
a tale you have spun
that you place in your pocket
till it creates a hole
such a temperary thing is a lie
a cloak of wool
which keeps out the rain
but not forever -
What a meal
Yesterday I ate Tuesday
stuffing it down my throat
The hours bit my lips
and striped my gums
with papercuts
I had stomached such food before
but not in such amount
as the heap before me
I had starved Monday -
If only
They blink down at me
Freckles
dotting the dark face of night
I stare up in wonder
And though my neck hurts,
I cannot look away
They catch the corners of my eyes
with hooks of light
but when I turn to look,
