the first snow
always elicits a sense
of wonder

everything is new again
and that the world
is being reborn
entering a new phase
in its annual cycle
of growth

their voices rising and falling
a stream of consciousness
pulling from their minds
memories of the day before.

high into the sky to roam
with the falcons and eagles
