people always look
at the crashes
and the pain
and the heartbreak

but it is not

justice
is gone
we have said goobye
to the memories
that have been made
on the scratched wood floors
we now live
in a tattered apartment
just because
we don't have enough
money
we had feelings

my worn sneakers
(Converse, faded teal)
have splashed through
unsuspecting puddles
with my friend
that has left the town
have pedaled the bike
down the now-smooth street
to the dirty pool 

what to write...
should i write about my dog?
about how
he sits curled
in betweent the armrests
of the armchair
that sits in front of the TV
that flickers on and off
and has books piled
in teetering stacks
beside it?

i do not belong
the the sun shining down
each and every day
i do not belong
to the grass
staying green
forever
i do not belong
to the waves lapping
at the sandy beach
no matter the season
i do not belong

Friday
the thirteenth
is considered
unlucky
but honestly
it's the luckiest
so what
if it's Friday
it's the end of the school day
so what 
if it's the thirteenth
that's my lucky number
