  • Life's not fair

    Stop telling me that
    ‘Life’s not fair’
    As if I didn’t know
    I learned that lesson
    years ago
I have the scars to show

    When you tell me
    ‘Life’s not fair’
    I simply turn to stone
    Your words will bounce off
  • Humanity

Why do we not teach the young
    how to explore pain?
We all endure these twists of fate,
yet we paint them with disdain.

For a species that defines itself
    as supposedly superior,
    our tolerance for feeling things
  • Awe

    I measured myself yesterday
against the ruler of the sky
I didn’t even reach the clouds
No trace of life gone by

    All at once, I perceived
    the vast expanse of time
    It sprawled out there
    in front of me
  • Red

    Something happened recently
That I can’t quite fit to words
But I will try it here
    So reader,
    Beware
For I’m as lost as a featherless bird

    I stretched and sighed
    Not quite awoke
Awake’s tense was yet to pass
  • Paradox

It took a while to conjugate
the verb to heal to healed
    Now I’ve learned
    this change of tense
    Requires quite a will
And if you stop to take a breath
    The world turns upside down
    The uphill battle’s
    Now inside out
  • The Other Story

    Why does every heroic tale
    Have to be of glory?
I want to know each character
Let me decide if they’re worthy.

For Fantasy is just a mirror
Of what we wish to be
A world of wonder sown from wars
    The starry eyes of destiny
