The Olympics come around every four years to remind us of things like patriotism and the perseverance of the human spirit. But in the time of Covid, do sports still have uniting power they once held?

I've got bats in my belfry 
and they sometimes try to take a turn to ring the bells-
those iron domes of hollow sound that echo southward
and speak for me.

The bats rustle and stir softly

And as the wall collapse and the world begins to swirl
I wish I could pretend again like when I was a little girl
And now I am pillow, overstuffed with feathers
Blowing northwards the wind during hurricane season weather

When I was a kid, there was nothing I wanted to be more than a Revolutionary War reenactor.  I would don my Little House on the Prairie-esque dress and bonnet and go the events like the pole-capping and encampments a few towns over.
