Holding a secret for yourself or another can feel lightheartedly mischievous, devious, painful, or like an immense honor and sign of trust. In poetry or prose, write about someone with a secret – their own or someone else’s. [Photo by Saeed Karimi on Unsplash]

  • Secret

    It lives in cupped hands

    Around sorry ears,

Behind closed mouths shut up tight,

A wrench in the steel factory gears.

    A hidden prism refracting light,

Shining through the cracks in firmly pressed fingers.

  • Shh

    Shh

    Don't tell

    I heard from another

That she went deep down under

So far, that she couldn't hear last night's thunder

    No one knows why

    Even I

    But maybe, just maybe

  • My Secret

    I have a secret.

I am not going to tell you my secret.

I have not told anyone my secret.

I will not tell anyone my secret.

I want to tell someone about my secret.
