Deadline

Stand
I glance back at my human, wagging my tail, trying to encourage her, as she struggles to catch up, “Hey! Slow down!” She calls up to me as I bound ahead,catching sight of the camp site.
At the edge of a cliff I stand tall. I stare up at the Wind. The Wind pushes me. I close my eyes, bracing myself upon the rock. As the Wind hits me, I squint, eyes tearing up. The Wind stops. I bend over, breathing heavily.
I believed that beneath the tree,
the branches' shield protected me.
Blocking out the words, the shouts, the pleas,
of others that were being teased.
Amongst the insects, bugs and all,
