Oh, no, I’m not here
For a reason.
It’s an almost comforting thingThe fleck of light of a chance
The infinite things
That had to go right.
If I were a different person -

Promises
Weren’t we supposed to be
Different?
Didn’t we fight warsDidn’t we sign papers,
Promising we were something?
Something
New?
But papers are just inkAnd quills
