Hard to believe that's the MOON! The colors of the sky and the colors of the fall foliage, layered like that, melt so well into each other as one beautifully composed shot.
I can feel the dual tugging emotions in this piece, that wish for independence and to be taken seriously as a young adult, while still missing the carefree days spent as a little kid. And I know, the world can appear to get a little grimmer as we grow up, as the rainbows fade (just as you mention) and some of the realities of life starting crashing in. Hang in there though, the sun will come out for you again!
