Tiny Writes
Hi — I’m working on a short play (10-15 min.) that’s supposed to be “Halloween-adjacent.” I wrote something, involving two characters: Irene, an elderly woman who lives alone and believes in ghosts and Sofia, her teenage neighbor who brings Irene Starbucks every Saturday morning, and maybe the granddaughter of her late best friend. I love the characters and their relationship, but I’m struggling to find a short but meaningful story that would fit well on stage. Let me know if you have any ideas!

oohhhh I love writing theatre stuff!! hmm maybe Sofia doesn't believe in ghosts/thinks that pretending to will encourage Irene's "bad habit" but like something happens that is really important to Irene like idk her late best friend visits her and Sofia either starts to believe or pretends anyways because **friendship**
um yeah that's kinda all I got for you haha! good luck writing!
Amazing characters and relationship! I'd think about how these characters can be tested. Like OverTheRainbow said, does Irene's belief in ghosts change? Does something happen that forces these two to take action or react, and if so what could that be? If you brainstorm an event that changes these characters from their normal, you'll have a great lead to dive into how these characters can be tested and go through trials, while learning something about each other, or themselves. Hope this helps!
