An Answer of Why

“Why do the small things matter to you?”

I’ve never been asked this question,

but I’ve thought about it numerous times.

Why do they?

Well, because I love the way the moon-

Gives the stars their own time to shine,

on a new moon night when there’s no light.

It’s something small that occurs every month.

Yet, it matters to me all the same like the way-

listening to music with my family matters.

In the car, connected through a song

Though, it’s only a few minutes long,

unlike winter, which I love so dearly.

Its icy hugs engulf me as the snow falls,

Painting a picture I hold dear to me.

Though it’s not the only one,

I hold pictures of the places I’d like to go dear to me-

The way I hold my love for dogs.

If I could, I’d take in every stray,

Casting their pain away.

But why?

Why do these ‘small’ things matter to me?

Well, because they just do.

I’ve always held my creative side dear to me.

    Cherishing every spur of creativity,

However I still took this feeling for granted.

Mother Earth holds us all in her arms,

engulfing us in a comfortable beauty.

    She keeps us safe,

as we travel around the sun.

She’s gifted us the oceans and lakes,

    the mountains and hills,
