Being a teen is like standing at the very edge of a tall cliff. One wrong move and it all crumbles; one wrong dress, one wrong word, one wrong love and you're over.
Keeping up with everything that you need to do is like trying to catch all the flying keys. Practically impossible. There are assignments and dates and recitals and experiences that you need to prioritize, while also being in control of it all.
Staying true to who you are is like trying to sing the harmony of a song that has a melody so known you could sing it all backwards. A melody that is so simple and fun, it makes life infinitely easier to sing that song.
But being a teen is also like seeing a double rainbow for the first time. It is filled with new experiences that you could never picture when you were little. Things like driving, and partying and crying feel like so much more as a teen. They feel as if their meaning has increased so much since doing them as a child.
Overall, being a teen is like being on a roller coaster.
There are also downs
And they sink to the depths of your darkest oceans.
But there are also ups
And they soar with the birds in the tops of the clouds.

I love this and I absolutely agree. Sometimes I think that being a teen is like life-extract; all the things just taste so much stronger! You capture that really well here.
That is so sweet of you to say. I always hope people relate to the writing I do.
