Cheetanaire

By Scarlett Contreras-Montesano
 “Commence!”
Instantly I strike, our staffs collide,
I arch when her staff nears, rolling against the reeds,
The cheetanaire rears back to strike again, I roll to my feet, I strike,
My staff collides with a loud crack, help, she shouts, help, help help,
I rear to strike again, she blocks and strikes again with the speed of a
cheetanaire twice her size
“Leave,” she shouts, “you’re going to lose.”
Before I even think of striking I whip around and swing my staff,
If I lose, I will do it with pride.
