I trace my fingertips over my skin,
Imagining everything going on within it:
Each little protein being made,
Each cell passing through my bloodstream.
Every strand of DNA is coiled up,
Making me up,
Making me exactly as I am,
Protein after protein
From gene after gene.
Each and every amino acid makes me unique,
with millions of differences from others,
Thousands of chances for me to stand out,
One body for me to live through.
I'm adorned with characteristics,
Freckles and colors,
All from tiny coils,
Coils of code.
