Crooked

I have
what I like to call
a crooked soul
one that is
a little out of place
and wants to do
odd things
and is shy
to show its true
crooked self

I have seen
a bird with
a crooked wing
I smile at it
feeling an odd
but beatuiful
similarity
between us
it has difficulty
flying happily
and soaring
normally
and so do I

I have sat
on a crooked branch
proud
that it holds me up
It reminds me
that I have
a crooked soul
but I hold myself
up tall

I have watched
a sunset
the colors
not aligned perfectly
and you know what?
that makes it
even better
it is a crooked sunset
not perfect
but perfectly wonderful
just the way it is

I have
a crooked soul
and I am proud.

  • Thoughts after the fair

I’ve never enjoyed the feeling of being sick to your stomach on a fair ride. Maybe I just don’t have the iron-willed intestines that all of my friends seem to have, because I get sick from going on the teacups at a normal speed.

  • october, my love

    october,
    my love,
it is good to see you once again.

although it appears i have missed
    your grand entrance,
    while i left the room.

i walked along the street to visit you,
    and looked up,
  • scratches

    skin pulled taut and tight
    burning like the light
    that seeps through cracks
    underneath the door

    from stray branches and walking
    throughout the woods, balking
    at the idea
    of no path

    water rests on skin
