Drive

Take me on a drive.

I'll roll the window down,

stick out my hand,

let it

soar through the air,

fly on the speed,

fly on the wind.

Take me on a drive.

I'll paint a sketchbook full

of watercolor landscapes

in my head,

of the white-wrapped hay bales,

the green rows,

the red tractors,

the orange rolling hills.

Take me on a drive.

I'll breathe in the feeling

of just-right cold air,

comforting barn smells,

piles of pumpkins

for sale

on all the dirt roads.

Take me on a drive

through fall.

    We're not

    Are we

  • Fashionably Early

    Everyone could make excuses

for when the bears showed up late

    to the party

    they called it

but when the bears came early

    no one

    could explain the questions

    away.
