After Robert Frost's Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening
windows down in the car and
old music that plays to the miles
that we make our way down highways to,
Surgeries, parties, funerals, visits we go,
To states, strangers, and families but not before
the windows down, the music up, I
and my sister and the Indigo Girls blending into sleep

"Plays to the miles..." brilliant! Such an expected and clever piece of word play that reveals the connection between time and space that's implicit in English idiom --- and the structure of reality I suppose. Also, Indigo Girls!!!! Great choice.
Thank you!!
