her blood is on your hands

This is for everyone

Who has criticized

The body of a child:

You have taken everything from me.

Today

An eleven-year-old girl

Is sitting in a hospital bed

Because she can’t eat a meal

Without experiencing the kind of pain

A child should only see in their worst nightmares

The kind of pain that leaves one

Begging, pleading

For the sunrise.

She never deserved this,

She never deserved this.

My beautiful, sweet little sister

Is sitting in a hospital bed

Because of the words you said

The scars you have inflicted on her mind

I hope it keeps you up at night

The same way her twin sister cries herself to sleep

Because she knows

Her sister will not be home soon

I hope it keeps you up at night

The same way I feel guilty

Because I promised myself

I would never let them break

At such a young age

You have taken everything from her.

I hope you know

Her blood is on your hands.
