hollow light

i begin

unbroken,

round as the moon,

bright

with autumn,

heavy with seeds,

complete in

my silence.

a careful violence,

enters

shaping curves

into a smile

that is not

my own.

yet it is a smile

anyway.

strings of pulp,

ghosts of what i was,

hollowed to wear

a face of beauty,

a mask for

the waiting

night.

and when it comes,

i glow like the sun,

lighting up

what once was darkness

with my grin.

capturing every shadow,

every movement

in the slow evenings,

and every ray

of sun

at dawn.

beautiful.

and yet,

even when my days

have gone by,

even when the

light

inside me

slowly fades away,

i was

there.

i may be breaking,

i may be falling,

the smile may be sagging,

but hollow shone,

more than

the sun

ever could.

and i was happy.
