I Miss My Friends

I miss my friends.
I miss laughing as we waitied for school to start
watching the older kids play wallball,
and discussing which book genre is better
(I voted fantasy)
I miss being so annoyed that I had to go
to chorus on mondays
but now?
I would give anything to sing with them again
I miss begging to be able
to hang out with my friend
who lived down the street
and binge-watching Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
and while having an intermission
throwing a bannana at them
(don't ask)
I miss our inside jokes
"A spoonfull of nutella
helps the goldfish go down"
we sang, ending in a fit of giggles
I miss asking the teacher
"Can we be a threeo?"
I liked that weird looks that we got
after saying that
I miss making up parodys
and eating those chocolote-coconut almonds
a little to fast
I miss my friends

  • Thoughts after the fair

I’ve never enjoyed the feeling of being sick to your stomach on a fair ride. Maybe I just don’t have the iron-willed intestines that all of my friends seem to have, because I get sick from going on the teacups at a normal speed.

  • october, my love

    october,
    my love,
it is good to see you once again.

although it appears i have missed
    your grand entrance,
    while i left the room.

i walked along the street to visit you,
    and looked up,
  • scratches

    skin pulled taut and tight
    burning like the light
    that seeps through cracks
    underneath the door

    from stray branches and walking
    throughout the woods, balking
    at the idea
    of no path

    water rests on skin
