I never knew I needed you.

I have had so many friends.

Some may say I am lucky

to be surrounded by huge groups.

Always having someone to talk to.

I agree.

I am lucky to have all these people.

But it always felt like something was missing.

I didn’t have someone specific

to look for in crowds.

I didn’t have a shoulder to cry on.

I was oblivious to the loneliness I felt

until you took it away.

You are my first real friend.

I never really believed in platonic soulmates.

I just didn’t get how people could have

that kind of connection. You know?

The one they have in movies.

But now I have that with you,

and I couldn’t thank you more.

You get me in a way I don’t even get myself.

I can’t see most of my future

But I know you will be there.

You will be at my graduation.

And you will lead the way for

the flower girl at my wedding.
