the idea of it: a jacket-cover summary

this is what i call "the idea of it" for a play i'm coming up with! it's basically the kind of intriguing summary you'd find on a book's jacket cover haha. if you have any feedback, i'd love to hear it, and once i get some scenes done i'll post them here too!!

NOTHING EVER HAPPENED ON ST. ANDREW'S STREET

St. Andrew’s Street, a small street in a smaller town where nothing big ever happens. The locals are simple folk who enjoy living a small life, punctuated occasionally by news events floating in from other cities or the odd traveling festival. There is no mystery. There is no danger. Everything is, for the most part, ordinary and clean-cut and kind.

And Q Thompson, soon-to-be-renowned private detective, absolutely hates it. He wants adventure, he wants excitement, and he really, really wants there to be some crime. He’s tired of solving little things, things people could solve themselves if they just thought about it. He wants to be known for his skills and not for the time he slipped walking out of a so-called crime scene and fell halfway down a flight of stairs. Goddamnit, he wants to be famous!

So when old Mrs. Worth arrives in a panic, convinced someone’s stolen her bed, Q is annoyed but realizes that this is his chance. If this crime turns out to be nothing more than a heap of confusion, nothing happens. Fine. But if, somehow, some way, there’s something else to it – well, then, Detective Q Thompson is going to make it big.
