Idealized Woman

Why are women

Supposed to

           cower

Before man’s expectations?

Why do we

          succumb

To their

            pathetic

Opinions?

We are treated like clay

We let them

change us to fit their mold

            shifting

Our personalities

Into a mold of their idealized woman

Until we don’t recognize ourselves anymore

The worst part is

They don’t even know

That their actions are

            wrong

They were taught to be

            dominant

We weren’t taught to

            fight

We suffer

From their lack of

            care

For our mental health

We’re

            drowning

In a sea of their

            disrespect

For everything we do

They don’t realize

How much

            power

They have over us

They make their

            critiques

On our bodies

We adapt

To their

            ‘needs’

Why are women

Supposed to

            cower

Before man’s expectations?

Why do we

            succumb

To their

            pathetic

Opinions?

Why do we let them

Put us through

            hell

Just to fulfill

Their

            desires

Of an

            idealized

Woman?

  • peace is impossible

    I close the windows

    Lock the doors

    Turn off the lights

I don’t ever want to leave this room.

    I am tired of drowning

    In a world

That has never prepared me to swim.

  • August 2nd, 2025

There are ten days left until the first day of my freshman year,

    And I am fearful.

Fearful of drowning under the thrashing waves,

For I have been taught to survive

    but never to truly live.

  • Revival

    One day,

you will feel pain so excruciating it becomes abstruse. You will feel numb, detached from the world, lost in a void of darkness.
