Kopa

By Anjali Rai

“Hey, give me back my cane!” “Did someone mix sugar in my tea?” These are all the memories I get when I think about my kopa/grandfather. He used to get mad easily and erupt like a volcano. I guess it was because he was old, maybe, maybe not. I know I inherited this trait since I get mad very easily. You could be whistling or talking a bit too loudly and I would get annoyed but I don't show it often. My grandpa hated trying new types of food. One time I made him try ice cream, and he hated it because of how sweet it was. He also liked to draw and he would put his drawings up on the walls. My grandpa sometimes liked dressing up and sometimes he didn't.  I remember him wearing a daura suruwal; he looked so adorable, and he was so short like a kid. As a kid, I thought he was ancient, like he had been alive since the 1800s. He sadly passed away in 2020.
