Lady Liberty

This statue is a woman.

She’s the symbol of the USA.

Yet people refuse to acknowledge her daughters.

The Lady Liberty, huh?

You know what that makes me think?

The one free woman.

Yeah.

Women are bound from invisible shackles from birth to death, held under rules men don’t have to follow.

Women are told to be quiet and still.

Women are told to “find a good husband.”

So tether myself to a man?

Shorten the chains attached to my shackles?

I don’t like that idea.

Lady Liberty.

Of all the women in America, her freedom is the greatest.

She’s not shackled down.

She’s not chained up.

She’s free.

The one free woman.

Free the daughters of Lady Liberty.

Take her torch and set those chains on fire.

  • Freedom

Freedom is a concept I think about often.

    A concept I don't really understand.

    Yes, we have it.

But it often feels like we don't.

How am I supposed to see how free I truly am, when I just feel trapped?

  • Experiences

    Experiences.

They're a gift all on their own.

Spending time with friends, laughing and talking about stuff that doesn't even really matter to anyone but us.

Immersing myself in a world of roleplay, where I'm whoever I want.

  • Dopamine

Because of these things called phones, those of us born in the digital world have far too large receptors for dopamine.

    Miniature computers, larger dopamine receptors.

Harder to get content and joy.
