Laughter

I hear the laughter.

It echos.

It’s filled with happiness.

It’s filled with a happiness that goes beyond words.

It’s part of running, playing, talking.

The laughter echos through my mind.

Only, it’s just a memory.

I don’t hear the laughter here.

It’s gone.

The only place it echos is inside the heads of people.

People who once laughed along with the laughter.

The laughter that felt contagious now only exists as memory.

Left to never be heard again.

  • The Pins

Inel’s mom grabbed their arm before they could open the door to the car. “Wait. Inel, are you sure you want to wear those pronoun pins?” Inels mom asked her. Two pins sat in the corner of Inels shirt.

  • Dear Best Friend

Dear best friend, I never thought about losing you. I always thought you would be here.

It came too close that time.

Please understand I am begging you here. It scared me. It still scares me.
