Life Lessons

By Jack Foster

Lessons and Regrets

Almost every regret is a lesson

The cookie jar in the middle of the table,

you reach in and mother yells at you.

Don't eat the cookies unless she tells you to,

a lesson taught by your loved ones,

a lesson, not a regret

There's a difference between a lesson and a regret.

Lessons help you in life, and push you up,

like your family and your loved ones.

A regret, an anchor holding you to the ground,

telling you you’re lesser.

There are people that you think are close to you,

but are always,

trying to get the upper hand on you,

always trying to embarrass you.

Remember,

They are the anchor.

You're the captain of your boat

Determining when the anchor can be dropped or raised.
