Maladaptive Daydreamer

By Ayanna Dayes

Daydreams. A world beyond this one, a world created in your mindscape. Anything you can imagine could be created, you can break reality with your own mind. You can be who you want to be, live the life you want to live, anything you can imagine you can dream. The feeling of drifting off into your mind from whatever you´re doing, a way to cope with your life without needing to do anything. Sometimes these dreams aren't the happiest you could snap back into reality, feeling worse than you were before but you still drift back into your mind, not being able to control it. The feeling of being in a dream then snapping out of it to see that someone is upset because you ¨weren't paying attention¨ but you know they wouldn't understand. The hyperactivity and talking to yourself just because you are dreaming, away in your own world. The things that happened that made this excessive daydreaming start. People say it's a gift, a superpower, something they want. But it's not, it's a disorder.
