She had disappeared so suddenly,
Some would say,
But I disagree.
I had watched as she slowly withered away,
Day by day,
Her smile grew wider,
Her laugh grew louder,
But her shoulders bunched higher,
Head drew lower,
Tears dropped faster,
How did you miss it?
We are gathered here today,
To mourn a girl we never knew,
Because we never seemed to care.
It isn't fair,
It isn't fair,
But life's not fair,
Is it?
And you'll claim you didn't know,
But she warned you,
She warned us,
And she cried, and cried,
And screamed,
And wished,
And hoped,
And begged,
That someone,
Anyone,
Would hear her hurting.
She shouted for help as she dangled off the ledge of hope,
But you just closed your eyes,
And plugged your ears,
And pretended you didnt see,
Her hand as it slipped.
